Quantile-based individual risk measures for rockfall-prone areas

چکیده
In mountain environments, precise rockfall risk evaluation is crucial to reduce death tolls and costs. However, date, existing assessment procedures remain scarce, as they focus only on elements at with the damage expectation sole measure. Here, we propose an approach evaluate distribution of damages individual basis a continuous function space. Furthermore, evaluated through (i) based (ii) value-at-risk (VAR) (iii) expected shortfall (ES). VaR ES measures allow better assessing due extreme events accounting for various short-term/long-term constraints faced by stakeholders. This procedure applied Le Brocey slope (municipality Crolles, French Alps), frequently affected events, illustrating its potential land-use planning. Notably, obtained values can be confronted acceptability thresholds perform legal zoning sound basis. Also, comparison management strategies different behaviors towards risk, budgetary and/or temporal horizons. Hence, provides valuable tools future planning decision-making. It could easily transferred other hazards wider contribution determination best balance between safety sustainability.

Insurance Applications of Quantile-based Risk Measures
We discuss a number of quantile-based risk measures (QBRMs) that have recently been developed in the financial risk and actuarial/insurance literatures. The measures considered include the Value-at-Risk (VaR), coherent risk measures, spectral risk measures, and distortion risk measures. We discuss and compare the properties of these different measures, and point out that the VaR is seriously fl...
متن کاملPortfolio optimization with quantile-based risk measures
In this thesis we analyze Portfolio Optimization risk-reward theory, a generalization of the mean-variance theory, in the cases where the risk measures are quantile-based (such as the Value at Risk (V aR) and the shortfall). We show, using multicriteria theory arguments, that if the measure of risk is convex and the measure of reward concave with respect to the allocation vector, then the expec...
متن کاملRisk-Averse Approximate Dynamic Programming with Quantile-Based Risk Measures
In this paper, we consider a finite-horizon Markov decision process (MDP) for which the objective at each stage is to minimize a quantile-based risk measure (QBRM) of the sequence of future costs; we call the overall objective a dynamic quantile-based risk measure (DQBRM). In particular, we consider optimizing dynamic risk measures where the one-step risk measures are QBRMs, a class of risk mea...
متن کامل“The use of flexible quantile-based measures in risk assessment”
A new family of distortion risk measures -GlueVaRis proposed in BellesSampera et al. (2013) to procure a risk assessment lying between those provided by common quantile-based risk measures. GlueVaR risk measures may be expressed as a combination of these standard risk measures. We show here that this relationship may be used to obtain approximations of GlueVaR measures for general skewed distri...
متن کاملAre quantile risk measures suitable for risk-transfer decisions?∗
Although controversial from the theoretical point of view, quantile risk measures are widely used by institutions and regulators. In this paper we show that the use of measures like Value at Risk or Conditional Tail Expectation as optimization criteria for insurance or reinsurance leads to treaties that are not enforceable and/or are clearly bad for the cedent. We argue that this is one further...
